Did you know that the role of women was crucial in battles? In the 19th century they played a really important part in the Carlist confrontations in the area. One good example is the battle of Abárzuza in 1874. This historical re-enactment surrounded by all the ethnographic and gastronomic aspects accompanying that century, transforms the Abárzuza square and its Church for just one day. The staging is so lifelike that you can even see what a field hospital was like in those times. The event is accompanied by workshops specialising in 19th-century ethnography and tastings of the best local artisan products.
