They say that every village has a story, but Etxalar has thousands to tell. On this guided tour, you’ll discover all the secrets, customs and curiosities of this charming and peaceful village in the Bidasoa district. Famous for its age-old pigeon hunting tradition using nets, it also stands out for its impeccably well-kept traditional architecture. Walking through the village’s streets, you can take in the beauty of its houses, the funerary stelae garden next to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and the Gaztelu tower house next to the Tximista river, a mediaeval armoury in the days of the Kingdom of Navarre.
At the end of the tour, you'll take with you everlasting memories and a piece of the soul and history of Etxalar, where time seems to have come to a standstill to preserve all the village’s magic and tradition.
