Guided tours of the Castle of Cortes + Alto de la Cruz archaeological site

In the urban centre of Cortes, the southernmost town in Navarre, stands this 12th century castle, a site of Tourist and Cultural Interest since 1993. It was one of the principal medieval castles in the Kingdom of Navarre, thanks to its location on the boundary with Aragón.

The Castle of Cortes houses the Permanent Exhibition of the Alto de la Cruz Museum, an archaeological site discovered in 1946 by a resident of the town. The site dates back to the end of the Bronze Age and is one of the most important in Europe for the Iron Age, declared a Site of Cultural Interest of Navarre due to its archaeological importance and relevance. In short, a small historical heritage oasis in the south of Navarre.
