Commemoration of Cesare Borgia’s death

On the 12th of March 1507, the fearsome Cesare Borgia died in Viana defending the coat of arms of Navarre. An influential Renaissance man, tireless warrior and conqueror, his luck finally came to an end with a dubious ambush. That’s why Viana remembers him with a commemoration which includes a theatrical re-enactment of the battle and death of the knight at La Barranca, the location on the outskirts of the town where the events took place.

In addition to learning curious historical details, you can also enjoy the Cesare Borgia Trail to La Barranca and then have a delicious bite to eat mid-morning.
