Fair in Puente la Reina

Puente la Reina prepares a lively programme to celebrate its traditional fair. Bull runs, pelota matches, music and a fire bull will, as ever, be present on the bill of activities.
 
The bid day is the Sunday, with a handcrafts market in the main street where stallholders offer sheep’s cheese, articles carved in wood, talos (corn cakes) or cider, among other things. At 14:00, don’t miss the ‘World Hoe Race’, a curious event held in the town since the 1960s. The young men ‘ride’ these hoes – old agricultural tools with a wooden tip and two iron tips to move the earth – and launch themselves along the stony streets in an attempt to keep their balance on these strange ‘stilts’.
