Dolmens route

A route of remarkable scenic, natural and historical-cultural value showcasing ten dolmen remains and the secrets of the woodland.

The trail begins at the Etxarri Aranatz campsite and passes through beech and oak tress on the northern slopes of the Sakana valley. After taking a track to the right and crossing the bridge over the Iraigorri brook, you reach the Chapel of San Adrián and climb to the Beitzeta dolmen.

In some sections of the route stand the Iruiturrieta, Jentilzulo and Bentatxar dolmens before you reach Alto de Irumugarrieta, which has views of
Gipuzkoa. The route continues towards the Zelatamuno, Mintegitxuta and Txaradigorri dolmens, and to the left, the Fagamendi and Maitzegur dolmens. The zigzagging descent becomes steep. Given its length, elevation gain it involves and how complicated the route itself is, it’s recommended only for
experienced, well-equipped hikers.
