This walk along the Irati river leads to the Chapel of San Román, the site where the peace treaty between Beaumont and Agramont was signed in 1479.

The route begins next to the mediaeval Auzola bridge, one of the most beautiful in Navarre. From there, you reach the Chapel of San Román, rudimentary yet of great historical value. The path leads into a pine forest to the Aoiz ice house, a pit where winter snow from the nearby mountains was collected and compacted into ice to preserve food.

The trail continues to a viewpoint overlooking the Irati river from which you can see the old Ekai sawmill, a complex of industrial buildings from the early 20th century. To return, 400 metres before reaching the mediaeval bridge, cross the footbridge over the river to the mill, which, in addition to grinding grain, used to provide the village with electricity.
