Tour of Codés

Peaceful and with a wide range of routes, the mountains of western Navarre are ideal for cycle touring. This suggestion brings together some of the most notable places in the area, such as Bargota, the chapel of Codés and Viana, and ventures into the neighbouring province of Álava to take in Santa Cruz de Campezo.

Along the way, the route climbs three mountain passes: the chapel of Codés, in the sierra of the same name, Genevilla and Aras. After the first of these, a fine concrete track takes you to the village of Názar.

The first and last parts of the route follow the Way of St James, so we recommend you enjoy the multicultural atmosphere to be found on this age-old pilgrims’ road, which you can experience most of all in Torres del Río, Sansol or Viana.
