This easy, winding trail begins in Roncesvalles and joins up with the Way of St James, offering a peaceful walk amidst trees and meadows. Its name alludes to Basajaun, the lord of the woods in Basque mythology.

It starts in the parking lot behind the Collegiate Church of Roncesvalles and follows a woodland track through young beech and robust oak trees.

On reaching a junction of the EuroVelo 3 and a GRT trail, it carries on through meadows where livestock often graze to an experimental farm run by the
Government of Navarre.

From there, a paved track leads to the junction with the road which takes you back to Roncesvalles, passing through a beautiful wood of beech, oak, conifers
and holly.
