The route takes in the main prehistoric megaliths in the area, such as funerary dolmens and tumuli rings. The Portuzargaina dolmen is one of the highlights, offering beautiful panoramic views towards the Balcón de Ubaba viewpoint.

This circular route begins at the Ubaba parking area (Sierra de Urbasa) and follows forest tracks, a Cañada (drovers’ road) and footpaths. It skirts Balcón de Ubaba to the old Baquedano pass, where the Portuzargaina dolmen stands.

After crossing the flat Raso de Zelaizarana and Raso de Bardoitza high plains, the route returns to the Cañada, passes through beech woods and arrives at the Majadas de Arratondo pastures, where the remains of the Cañada dolmen. The Artekosaro dolmen, the preserved in the area, can be found amidst shepherds’ huts and hawthorn and blackthorn thickets.

The return route follows the edge of Balcón de Ubaba. Some sections follow marked mountain bike trails. Caution is advised near the rasos in fog.
