Between Urroz and Beintza-Labaien lie the Leurtza reservoirs, a Natural recreational area of great ecological value and scenic beauty.

The trail begins at the information point with paid parking, which is reached via a 5 km paved rural road from Urroz. The route skirts the Leurtza stream basin, offering a contrast between the water and the beech trees, a natural habitat for the grass frog.

After crossing the dam of the upper reservoir, the path ascends, revealing remnants of the old Eltzaburu road, to Zumardena saddle, near the Erlain cross.
Following the GR12 to Belate, you can admire the Pittortzar dolmen. Returning to Zumardena, continue along a flat section to Uztakorta saddle (hunters’ hut). After leaving the GR12 trail, follow the eastern slope of Mount Soratxipi to Ezkalarre saddle, from where you descend, enjoying the scenery, back to the starting point.

* In summer, it’s advisable to book parking in advance leurtza.es/reservas/
