An easy walk that’s perfect for discovering the wealth of flora and fauna in the Bertiz Natural Park, ideal for families with children.

The route begins on the main track through the park, next to the charcoal mound and continues through an area of plane trees and American oak. After a short climb, the path enters a beech forest and leads you to the Iturburua spring, which may be dry depending on the time of the year. After going down the slope and crossing the brook, a wide track guides you back to the starting point.

Along the way, you can see the remnants of traditional forest activities such as charcoal production and grazing, and structures to store chestnuts, all with
explanatory panels. The Bertiz Natural Park is also one of the few places where you can spot all seven species of woodpeckers found on the Iberian Peninsula.
