Route type Circular

The trail starts in Iciz and climbs through an oak forest to a viewpoint with 180° views to the south of the mountain range. It follows old paths and passes though pastures with livestock sheds, with vegetation including common oak, boxwood, Portuguese oak, holm oak, ballota oak and European red pine, as well as remnants of livestock farming and forestry activity.

The trailhead is accessed in Iciz after walking 400 metres along a track to Lezkairu, where there’s an information panel.

The route begins by crossing a brook via a bridge. Leaving the track, it climbs an old path with cobbled sections and some steep inclines to the Cuatro Askas watering trough. It then levels out among oak trees and passes the Peña Ibarko and Malatrairu viewpoints before reaching the ruins of the Indiano’s livestock shed. From there, it skirts the mountain to Sarriés borda (livestock) shed and descends to reach the Ateta trodden path. It then
continues along an old path back to the valley and Lezkairu.
