This trail follows ancient paths and the Arrata river to San Juan Xar, in the Carpe nature reserve, where there’s a cave with a sculpture of a shepherd and a spring with waters said to have healing properties.

The circular route begins in Arantza, descending the old road to the Arrata river and continuing along a flat and accessible country lane to San Juan Xar
(approx. 130 m).

The return journey begins along the same route, then turns left to cross a stone bridge and ascend another old road which leads to the road entering the
village. The last 500 metres of the route follow this road.

The trail coincides with the GRT-Bidasoa trail as far as San Juan Xar and alternates between sections of cobbled road, country lanes, footpaths and a short
stretch of road.
