Tour of Izaga

The Sierra de Izaga is one of the parts of Navarre least explored by cycle tourists but one which offers a host of possibilities for gravel riding.

Start the route in Urroz Villa, alternating between the Irati rail trail and stretches of road, and passing interesting places such as the Villaveta pool. At km 10.8, take a 200 m detour to arrive at the Larrángoz hanging bridge, which leads to the deserted village of the same name. A few kilometres further on, you reach one of the most interesting natural beauty spots on the route, the Gorge of Lumbier. Liédena is the next village and marks the start of the most mountainous part of the ride.

Leaving Sangüesa to one side and after an initial ascent between Rocaforte and the Aibar area, you begin the definitive climb, which takes you along a spectacular path between trees to the top of the Sierra de Izco, with magnificent views. From there, you make a quick descent towards Abínzano and return to Urroz Villa.
