Zabaleta woods

This trail is a walk for you to discover the harmony between forest, water and landscape in a privileged natural environment of great beauty.

It’s a circular route that begins at the Casas de Irati parking area, next to the rangers’ information hut, and follows a forest track to the Irabia reservoir. Take a path that climbs through beech and fir trees, skirting the southern slope of Mount La Cuestión, also known as Mount Zabaleta, and winds through the forest with views of the surrounding area. Descend to the Zabaleta brook, rejoin the forest track towards the ranger’s house, where the route turns off towards the thin end of the Irabia reservoir.

The return journey begins from the ranger’s house, crossing the Duelas brook, ascending and then turning right to descend gently towards the Irati river. After crossing the Zabaleta brook again, climb to join the forest track and carry on to the starting point.
