Artajona Dolmens

This is a very short walk, suitable for families, that takes you back to prehistory with a visit to two “corridor” dolmens, formed by imposing stones.

The route begins in the parking area, where there’s an information panel, which is about 4 km by car from the cemetery. Nearby is the Portillo de Enériz dolmen, one of the bestpreserved prehistoric monuments in Navarre, with large stone slabs and a tumulus almost three metres high. There are also beautiful views of Artajona.

Continuing along the path, you reach the Mina de Farangortea dolmen, 850 metres beyond a pine wood, where the contrast between this ancient burial site and the modern wind turbines on the tops of the mountains is striking and evocative.
